ABOUT US
NAMABC was conceived during the meeting of six Mapuans on April 28, 1994 at Mr. Ho’s Restaurant on Kingsway St,
Burnaby, BC. The founding members were Eddie Alfonso (EE 72), Leo Flores (EE73), Chito Jambalos (EE 74), Alex Mendez (EE73),
Rod Santos (EE64) and Digno Vibat (ME 69). On September 15, 1994, the body was formally organized with the election of its
executive officers. The first elected officers for the term 1995-1996 were:

Eddie Alfonso (EE'72) - Internal Vice-President
Leo Flores (EE'73) - External Vice-President
Greg Narciso (ME'68) - Treasurer
Arnel Agbulos (CoE'87) - Secretary
Chito Jambalos (EE'74) - PRO
Digno Vibat was re-elected as president for 2 terms from 1996 – 1998 and from 1998 – 2000. The main goal of NAMABC
was to maintain camaraderie among members, thus her activities included picnic, camping, bowling, golf and basketball. There were
also technical seminars offered on computers, web based design and professional development.
In 2000, Eddie Alfonso was elected president with a new executive team and they continued on the tradition of providing social
activities for the members. The executive committee has also accepted the challenge to host Mapuaworld 2004 in Vancouver, BC.
The current executive officers have been re-elected for another 2-year term with a mandate to oversee the successful
implementation of Mapuaworld 2004.

2002 -
Bowling Tournament
One of the more popular sports that NAMABC sponsor is bowling. Members as well as guests enjoy this activity because of the socials
that comes with it. After dinner which follows the game the group ends the activity with a karaoke that leads into dancing to the bit of
songs sang by members.
2001 -
Camping
Mapuans in BC take sometimes to spend their summer on several campsites and public parks that abound in the province. Members
of the association enjoy their company by having potlucks, parlor games and spending the nights around campfires. In most cases
campsites close to a golf course are chosen so members can play a round of golf.
2000 -
Golf Tournament
NAMABC Golf Club is one of four Filipino golf clubs in Vancouver. The Club has about 60 members and plays an average of 20 games per
season. Although majority of the members are Mapuans, members from outside are allowed to join in regulated numbers.
1999 -
Spring Dance
Spring and/or Fall Dances are sponsored by NAMABC yearly. This activity partly support the organization and give some members an opportunity
to dance. Many members are baby boomers who are approaching retirement and the easiest thing to do is either play golf or go dancing.
1998 -
Christmas Party
On occasions, the members play Santa Claus to their fellow members during Christmas season. The association schedule the general
meeting at this gathering and elect new set of officers every two years.
1997 -
Picnic
Yearly picnic is a tradition for NAMABC and members are invited to attend while the organization pays the bill.
This is a token of appreciation
to the members support and loyalty.
1996 -
Engineering Seminar
The association sponsor technical seminars to uplift the professional standing and employability of its members.
Speaker was invited to
discussed the different criteria of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers (CCPE)
and the Canadian Engineerign Accredition Board (CEAB).
1995 -
Basketball Tournament
NAMABC always try to find an opportunity to interact with other alumni organization in BC. The Inter-Alumni Friendship Games
revived the old rivalry among NCAA teams. The four teams who participated were San Beda, La Salle, Ateneo and Mapua.
1994 -
General Meeting
This is the year we were organized and general meetings were regularly held to formulate the different committee and acitivities of the
association.
