To All Mapuans,
I would like to report that the recent visit of the Mapua Institute of Technology Concert Singers (MITCS) in Los Angeles, as sponsored by the Southern California Mapua Alumni (SCMA), was quite a success. The Mapua choir members were hosted by SCMA families from Sept. 16th through the 26th, 2003. Two concerts were performed by the choir in the cities of Duarte and Carson, with special tribute to the late Precy Ordinario. The 23-member choir experienced several cultural activities during their stay in L.A. which was highlighted by trips to tourist attractions such as Disneyland, Universal Studios and Knottsberry Farm.
Thanks to Greg and Echel Narciso for attending the Carson concert and hooking up with a lot of SCMA members...we'll see all of you in 2004.
Special thanks to my very good friend Norma Rieza-Benzon (from Houston. TX) and her husband Meredith, for inspiring me to do the best that I could in chairing this event.
To all Mapua alumni, who in one way or the other supported the Mapua "kids"...on their behalf, I would like to express my appreciation. LET'S CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE MAPUA STUDENTS!

It's nice to know that the list of prospective guests is growing...not to mention, the acceptance of Dr. Rey Vea to attend this significant event. This continuous success reflects on the outstanding organization of the people behind this future activity...congrats guys!
I'd like to take this opportunity to ask your support for the upcoming North American Concert Tour of the Mapua Institute of Technology Concert Singers (MITCS) from August 25 through October 15, where they are scheduled to visit U.S. and Canadian cities, to perform at various organized concerts, as ambassadors of goodwill for MIT and the Philippines. MITCS is the official choir of the school, composed of current Mapua students and led by a young and world-renowned Musical Director, Patrick Frias.
MITCS is scheduled to visit the Los Angeles area from September 17 through 25, 2003. They will be performing at the Carson Community Center Auditorium on September 21, 2003 for a big fund-raising campaign. Proceeds will go to the members of the choir, who have sacrificed their time (from school) and their parents' money, to experience their once in a lifetime "dream" of travelling out of the country and gaining the cultural experience in the U.S. and Canada.

Dear Ed Alfonso & the rest of the organizers of Mapua World 2004:
This is my second entry on your guest book...just thought of something. You'll probably be surprised that no matter how great this website is, there are still quite a few alumni who might not even know about this very important event. One simple reason (and this is a reality check) is that, unfortunately, there are still some of us that are not computer-literate...some who, for one reason or another, refuse to even access the Internet. My suggestion...if it hasn't been done yet...is to send flyers (or any other means of communication) to the various Alumni Associations (from different locations) addressed to the incumbent Presidents (or Chairperson) who should be responsible to make an announcement during one of their meetings or advertise it in any other form of communication.

This will be a great opportunity to meet with fellow Mapuans. Coming back from vacation in the Philippines about a week ago, I had the privilege to hook up with current Mapuans at the MIT Campus in Intramuros, such as Dr. Rey Vea (current President) and the MIT Concert Singers, who are working on a world tour this coming Spring. It was a great experience to be in the campus again (after 30 years)and simply being with the new-generation Mapuans. I'm certainly looking forward to this event.

Emf or electromotive force is what makes the electron move when the circuit is closed. It is electricity that makes bulb light, runs motor and charge batteries.
