Capilano Suspension Bridge.
In 1888, George Grant Mackay, a Scottish civil engineer and land developer, arrived in the young city of Vancouver in Canada.
He immediately became involved with many projects and as City Park Commissioner, set aside Stanley Park as a recreational area.
He bought and sold farm land in the Okanagan, founding the city of Vernon. Mackay purchased 6,000 acres of dense forest on either
side of Capilano River and built a cabin on the very edge of the canyon wall. Assisted by two local natives and a team of horses,
Mackay suspended a hemp rope and cedar plank bridge across the river. Natives called it the "laughing bridge" because of the noise
it made when wind blew through the canyon. The bridge, and Mackay's cabin, became a popular destination for adventurous friends,
dubbed Capilano Tramps (due to the long hike up to the property!). After his death, the hemp rope bridge was replaced by a wire
cable bridge in 1903.

Whistler.
"Last year in May, two friends and I flew from San Diego up for a dream trip to Whistler. Even in May it snowed (on the mountain)
everyday and after our third consecutive day of riding, we still hadn't covered all of Whistler Mountain. The mountain is huge.
The prices are in Canadian and the snow in May is better than the best day riding in California in February. Hands down the best
place on Earth".
- San Diego, CA
"My trip to Whistler was in March of 2002 for Spring Break. My family and I had the greatest time. I think that Whistler is the
greatest place on Earth; it's Heaven on Earth as we call it. We stayed in the Marriott and we thought everything was perfect.
The skiing was awesome and the food was delicious. My personal favourite was 7th Heaven skiing. It was magnificent. The view
from above over the lake was terrific and has changed the way I look at life. I believe the winter Olympics in Whistler in 2010
will be the best anyone has ever seen and we all know why. Whistler is the greatest place on Earth. I've been to some other
ski resorts in North America and no other even comes close to comparing what Whistler has to offer. My vacation at Whistler
was wonderful and hope to visit again soon."
