Hello $MEMBER$,
Due to some technical glitch, this newsletter is being re-issued.
The Executive Committee invites members to join us for a fall camping on:
| Date: |
Sept 12, 13, and 14 (2 nights) Friday to Sunday |
| Place: |
Thousand Trails Preserve at Cultus Lake 1920 Columbia Valley Highway Lindell Beach, BC Tel.# 604-858-3932 |
The fee is $25 + tax per night per campsite. Two families can share a campsite. The limitation per site are: 10 people, 2 cars and 2 tents. For members with a motorhome, which would require full hookups, we recommend that they reserve a site for themselves.
The preserve has picnic tables, playing fields, swimming pool, children’s play area, Family center, Trading post and full hookups (electricity and water and some sites with sewer facilities).
We have included a golf tournament and tentatively booked a tee-off time for 8:30 am at Aquadel golf course (Executive par 3 course) on Saturday, September 13, 2003. A booking fee of $10 per person is required to confirm the reservation so we request members who want to play golf to confirm right away. Members who are not planning to camp are also invited to play golf as long as you can get there by 8:30 am. The cost is $30 per person which includes an 18 hole game and lunch (Hamburger, Chicken or Garden Burger with Fries, Soup or Salad and a non-alcoholic beverage. Tax and tips are included in the price.) If your wife or significant other wants to join us for lunch only, the cost is $10 per person and the choices are the same as above.
NAMABC members who are also members of Thousand Trails will not pay any camping fee. They just have to provide us their TT membership number and we will forward the same to the Preserve staff for reservation.
We encourage all members, especially those with young families to join us and experience a relaxing camping weekend.
Please reply to Eddie Alfonso at 604-431-8183 or by email at eddie.alfonso@shaw.ca if you are camping and playing golf by August 3, 2003 so that we can confirm the golf booking. We need to pay a deposit of $10 per player one month before the tournament. If you are not playing golf, you can confirm your camping reservation by August 8, 2003.

Your executive Committee invites all members, friends and families to a Halloween Dance on:
| Date: |
Saturday, October 25, 2003 |
| Place: |
Second Floor Hall Bonsor Recreation Center 6550 Bonsor, Burnaby
|
| Time: |

| Cost: |
$20 per person |
The food will be catered by Charles Caterer Express and music provided by Lani Cruz. Please mark your calendar for our Halloween dance. All proceeds from this dance will go to the Mapuaworld fund to help defray our expenses when we host the grand international reunion next year.

We also have Elena Aikenhead and Rexie Tan of Tri-media One as guests. They have been providing free advertisement of our Mapuaworld 2004 event at the local multi-cultural channel. Watch for S files every Wednesday at 8:30 to 9:00 pm.
A total of 67 comprising of members with spouses and kids, 3 guests, and 7 children below the age of 13 attended the picnic.
We had kid games as well as volleyball games for adults. The team of Dean Torres, Joel Agustin, Joseph Pettila and Noni Soliman eventually won the championship game over Dennis Joaquin, Angel Alcos, Rob and Lissa Bentley. It was a very good match with great teamwork from both sides.
Initial order of our Mapuaworld T-shirts was delivered on time for the picnic. Twenty T-shirts were sold to members and spouses at $15.00 each. Officers of Mapuaworld 2004 and NAMABC were given free T-shirts as token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication, both for the success of our coming grand international re-union and the conscientious performance of their responsibilities. Officers who haven’t received their T-Shirt can claim it from the executive officers. The sale of T-shirts were handled by Digno and Ed Tapia.
The Executive Committee would like to thank the officers, area coordinators and members who helped in the arrangements of the picnic, our wives who helped in the preparation of the food and all members who attended. We hope to see you all again in our Mapuaworld 2004 picnic next year.
Have a great summer. To our new members - welcome. |
