    AUTOCAD CLASS
    By Greg Narciso

One of NAMA'S objectives is to undertake educational activities beneficial to members in particular and to the public in general. In line with this, our association initiated to organize Autocad courses mainly tailored to the needs of our members.

The courses are for beginners and intermediate levels and cost $189.00 plus tax. Registered students are qualified to purchase an autocad release 12 package (DOS /WINDOWS version) including AME, AUDIO VISION, 3D STUDIO-release 2, & AUTODESIGNER complete with full documentation in CD. The whole package cost $340.00 plus tax.

The classes are being held at Kwantlen College in Richmond. The first class started last March 7 and will finish on March 20. The course is 36 hours long and being held twice a week. The second class is scheduled to commence on April 4 and will end on April 27. Interested members may contact Digno Vibat.

The computer club is continuously conducting basic training for interested members. This month Marc Bawagan handled the training on DOS and WINDOWS at Nonoy Almero's place in Surrey. For more info please call Nel Agbulos.

    TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT

The Executive Committee has approved the appointment of Alex Mendez as NAMA’s Internal VP replacing Leo Flores who is temporarily relinquishing the position due to tight work schedule.  Bert Samson is replacing Alex who is the Area Coordinator for Burnaby-New Westminster prior to his appointment.

Other new appointees as Area Coordinators are Ramon Santos for Richmond and Nette Jamilarin for Vancouver who are replacing Tony Sol and Rod Santos, respectively.  Tony Sol has been out of the country for sometime now while Rod Santos is on extended work assignment in Chile.
The Executive Committee approved these appointments to continuously run NAMA’s activities efficiently.

    Dinner for $4.50, anyone?

Responding to the request of the Executive Committee, Betsy’s Restaurant is offering light dinner for $4.50 per plate during our monthly general membership meeting. Betsy's will serve dinner as early as 5:30PM on pay-as-you-order basis. This will give members time to eat before the meeting.

    SCHOLARSHIP

During the last general meeting, Ding Torrijos brought up the idea of sponsoring a deserving student for scholarship to MIT. It was agreed that this be tabled for another meeting for it became apparent that a committee was necessary to discuss its feasibility. Members are enjoined to discuss this fully so as to decide on this matter as soon as possible.
