ISSUE NO. 1-98: JAN/FEB 1998 NAMABC'S PRESENCE ON THE WEB
(NPOW)
NAMABC’S website is gradually taking shape and now can offer various services and informations to members as well as visitors alike. Members wanting to know almost anything about our association have only to visit our website at http://www.geocities.com/wallstreet/floor/8969.
Our site includes the list of officers and members. The list of members is presented in both text and graphics mode. The graphics mode has a scrollable thumbnail that when clicked will link to the profile of the selected member. The association’s goals as well as its history were also presented. A summary of our newsletters is presented on a separate page. Members can browse the back issues of our newsletters to refresh their memory of our previous
activities.
A special link is provided to numerous Mapua related websites, several newspapers (including Philippine news) and various sites for job opportunities. Visitors from outside of Canada will also find a comprehensive link about Vancouver. For members who are not well versed with Internet, there is a special link for them. A tutorial is included where they can learn the
history and basics of Internet. A detailed procedure about webpub- lishing is also included both in HTML and PDF formats. Another informative feature is the link to the sports activities. Golf players can access the website to know the game schedule, fees, rules and regulations, handicapping, point system and much more.
Another important link that was included is the business opportunities. Members with a particular business to advertise are invited to link their business website to our homepage. For the first two months our website had registered about 300 visitors (some are from webmasters working on the project). This, however, is encouraging and indicates to be a nice
place to advertise your business for a modest fee.
We would like our members to come forward and fill up our links for members' website. We also encourage their children to link their creation to the children's website. It is our intention to give the kids incentive to develop their skills in webpublishing in particular and cultivate their interest in information technology in general. Interested members may contact
Greg Narciso or Joe Pante.
It is the ardent desire of the webmasters to create and maintain a thoroughly functional and informative homepage. Our website will only continue to have real impact if members will take part in any way they can. Comments and suggestions are most welcome. Our plans for the future
is to have our own domain so members and visitors can easily find our URL address. We hope that someday we can simply type namabc.com to access our website.
The ratification of our Constitution is still on going. Officers and Area Coordinators are phoning our members who have not voted on the issue yet to personally inform them of the amendments and tally their votes. As of press time a total of 82 members have already cast their votes for the proposed amendment. Of these, 44 actually voted in person and 38 voted by phone. The last day of voting is set on Feb. membership meeting. To pass the proposed constitutional amendment, we will require approval by 2/3 of the current active members. The voting results will be announced during the February general membership meeting.

We wish to welcome our new members to our fold.

RELOCATED MEMBERS
Two of our members moved to our neighbouring province of Alberta for good. They were Alex Roxas and Dom Tolentino. The booming industry of Calgary is attracting more of our members to relocate either permanent or temporarily. Other members who are working also in Calgary are Tony Cejalvo, Jun Laroya and Chito Monzon. Next to be assigned there according to reliable source is Francis Javier, not to mention some that are in the process of negotiations.
As the golf season is just a month from now, NAMA golfers are busy honing their skills either on the range or on pre-season games. Member players can now consult our website for detail of tournaments, fees, rules and regulations and more at this address: http://www.geocities.com/wallstreet/floor/8969 |
