NAMABC NEWSLETTER - SUMMER 2001
INDUCTION PARTYThe induction party held last January 27, 2001 was attended by 230 members and guests. With renewed enthusiasm from the newly inducted officers and coordinators the members are assured of more worthwhile activities. It is always a challenge to fill up the void in area coordinators. Truly dedicated officers are hard to come by so we are calling on our general membership, who would like to be part of the action and is willing to contribute their time and talent, to come forward and make things happen.
To keep our spirit alive and to ensure that our camaraderie continue to flourish, the executive committee is trying to organise activities for the general membership. It is our goal to create an opportunity for all of us to meet and have fun. We are inviting you and your family to attend our Annual Picnic to be held on July 8, 2001 at Bear Creek Park, 88th Ave. & King George Hwy., in Surrey. NAMA is providing food, however, attendees are required to bring their own drinks. Our next major activity will be our Annual Camping on August 3-6, 2001 at Friday Creek Campgrounds in Mt. Vernon in Washington. We are glad to announce that payment for the campsite will be subsidised 50% by NAMABC. Total cost per campsite for 3 nights is Cdn $75.00 and our organisation will shoulder $40.00 so the balance of $35.00 will be paid by the members. We will have Potluck lunch and dinner on Saturday, August 4, 2001. Non-campers are invited to join all campers for a day of fun, games, good food and wholesome company of Mapuans. Members and guests who are playing golf are also invited to play in the Invitational Tournament that will be held at Similk Golf Course on August 5, 2001, with tee off time to start at 10:00 AM. Some of the activities on the planning stage are the Fall Dance and Annual Christmas Party. The Fall Dance is tentatively scheduled on September 29, 2001 while the Christmas party is tentatively set for December 1, 2001. Final details will be published on our newsletter. We always strive to give you, the members, wholesome activities but we need your co-operation. MEMBERSHIP FEE
